Indie I Do & Local Vendors

I was out doing my market research again today!  Some of my right-hand event ladies and I shared our work experiences (over brunch mimosas) then headed to the Indie I Do Wedding Show at The Heritage Hall together to check out some local vendors.

I SAID YES
Wedding Stationery and Design

http://www.isaidyes.ca/
This wedding invitation is one of plenty of interesting things I saw today.  My trusted fellow event/wedding planner, Diana Newson, was so impressed with this specific invitation done by "I Said Yes" Wedding Stationery and Design, she snapped a photo of it.  It's a perfect idea for anyone headed out-of-town or country for a destination wedding and will definitely surprise your invitees!

The Sweet Tooth Cakery
Gluten-Free Cakes & Confections

One of my other favourite vendors I discovered today while parusing the tables at Indie I Do was The Sweet Tooth Cakery.  This boutique cakery bakes only with non-wheat based, gluten-free flours.  All you celiacs - this is the place for you!  I indulged a tad and had a miniature cupcake, and trust me - I wish it had been much larger.  Anyone looking for options suitable for guests with food sensitivities and/or allergies, check out their website.  They can make a variety of cakes and cupcakes suitable for different needs.

Original Newson Events & The Newson Estate

This DREAM venue comes with an Event Coordinator you'll probably fall in love with (I know from experience).  Diana Newson is a fellow Event Managament graduate, and when I needed help with not only a wedding I planned, but my sister's wedding, I trusted it in her hands.  Anyone considering tieing the knot on Vancouver Island owes it to themselves to check out ONE  - Original Newson Events.  Diana Newson is truly original, as are her events.  She also understands exactly what weddings are all about - Family.  She has paired up with her mom, Kella, to make unforgettable events on their beloved family estate in Comox.

History of The Estate
Built in 1951 by Bob & Jean Newson the Newson Estate started as a summer home without any electricity or running water. This home has been passed down through 3 generations and is now the perfect setting for a small wedding or grand affair of 150 people. It is a beautiful beachfront cottage renovated to continue reflecting its original style with a modern flair.

Rustic is all the Rave!

Check out this month's inspiration board: Rustic.
These are all photos from real weddings I found on The Knot http://weddings.theknot.com/Real-Weddings.

Green, rustic wood and white is quickly becoming a popular colour theme this year.  Wood accents and decor add texture to your palette, and the green and white keep it modern yet natural!  Brides always take the cake when it comes to style and attention - but don't forget the men!  Bold & patterned ties help the grooms have a place in the spotlight too.

Market Research!

I dragged Harry to the Wedding Fair at The Westin Bayshore today!  Great way to see what's the latest with decor, stationary and everything else in the world of weddings.  Great to get an introduction to new and different vendors and see what they have to offer.

One of the funnest new trends is choreographed dance routines and break-out dancing!  Couples are not only starting to learn fun routines to surprise and entertain their guests (and involve the bridal party, family and friends) but are even hiring professionals!  Think about the possibilities with your first dance together.... this is the coolest new way to express yourselves at your wedding... and truly make it about YOU!
Check out CLEAR THE FLOOR at http://www.clearthefloor.com/ and watch some of their videos - guarantee you'll get some laughs!
